STUDENT APPLICANTS WERE NOTIFIED FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH​

Green Team will be open for interested THIRD, FOURTH, and FIFTH grade students this year. Kindergarten through second grade will be invited to participate in all of the fun events that Green Team plans. 
A new club has come to Lighthouse Elementary - GREEN TEAM! This team helps our school, community, and planet by educating others about the environment, fundraising for items and causes that help our planet, and sponsoring school-wide GREEN events.

Several Possible Goals for 2019-2020

  • create and sell upcycled crafts (fundraiser)
  • Chico Bag (fundraiser)
  • Purchase Recycling bins for each classroom 
  • Start new school-wide recycling initiative (batteries?, plastic bags?)
  • Research and inform students via Morning News Broadcast
  • Morning Announcement Prize Contests
  • Solar Cookout school-wide event
  • Park Cleanup Day
  • Beautify the School - flower planting day
  • Walk to School and Ride Bike events
Third Grade Green Team meets during the school day on the second Tuesday of the month. 
Fourth and Fifth Grade Green Team meets before school (7:45) on the second Tuesday of the month.

Green Team members will clean the playground or participate in Green Team activities about once per month during their recess time.

BEFORE SCHOOL MEETINGS

There will be about one or two before school meeting each month. 

Events

Green Team members will sign up to help at the events throughout the year. After school events (e.g. Park Cleanup, Solar Cookout) require and adult. Members need not attend every event.
